17 And Jesus, ascending to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples aside in private and said to them: 18 “Behold, we are ascending to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be handed over to the leaders of the priests and to the scribes. And they shall condemn him to death. 19 And they shall hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified. And on the third day, he shall rise again.”

32 Now they were on the way ascending to Jerusalem. And Jesus went ahead of them, and they were astonished. And those following him were afraid. And again, taking aside the twelve, he began to tell them what was about to happen to him. 33 “For behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man will be handed over to the leaders of the priests, and to the scribes, and the elders. And they will condemn him to death, and they will hand him over to the Gentiles. 34 And they will mock him, and spit on him, and scourge him, and put him to death. And on the third day, he will rise again.”

31 Then Jesus took the twelve aside, and he said to them: “Behold, we are ascending to Jerusalem, and everything shall be completed which was written by the prophets about the Son of man. 32 For he will be handed over to the Gentiles, and he will be mocked and scourged and spit upon. 33 And after they have scourged him, they will kill him. And on the third day, he will rise again.” 34 But they understood none of these things. For this word was concealed from them, and they did not understand the things that were said.
